Tell the Moon I say hello

Every time I see you
it hurts a little less.
You show up a lot
and yes I’ll confess. I’m glad.

Not for you, but for me.
That I’m getting past this.
No longer imagining gruesome things
upon my neck or wrist.

But how did you cope so easily?
Easy, was it so?
Like I would know.
I healed my wounds with time.

And time stole those memories
of blades and ammo.
Replaced by a tableau,
and in it, not one bit of you.

So tell the Moon
I say hello, in the end.
That light in the darkness
has always been my friend.
