Like Dandelions

Bearing a posthumous name
you make your fame by
crumbling to pieces
and starting over.

Here and
          there,
                  word of
          you spreads
                  like a cancer,
finding root in
                  tradition and
the very earth
          we tread.

You like to play dead
as if it were just a game,
putting the parts together
in the same configuration.

Your undying contagion.
          Living on in the image

                  of yourself.
