Sick Boi

I have the flu. So it’s a miracle that I’m making a post at all to be honest. But it’s an even bigger miracle that I was somehow able to scrape myself out of bed to submit to the #RevPit contest. No but really, I almost slept right through the submission opening on Saturday and scrambled to get everything together. And I’m sure I could’ve done a lot better of a job if I had had the energy and brain power, but I’m just proud of myself that I was able to do it at all.

For those of you who don’t know what the #RevPit contest is, here’s a link to their official site.

I’ve been checking the #10Queries feed every once in a while, neither of my chosen editors have started that process yet so that gives me some peace of mind. But honestly, I’m not expecting to win. I’m completely aware of the fact that my query could use some work. My first five pages too. But hey, they might be attention-grabbing enough to get some much needed feedback. That’d be nice.

No matter what happens with this contest, I’m just glad that I was able to participate. Just watching all the writers on twitter offering support to one another is really inspiring. All these people that know exactly what I’m going through (minus the flu) and giving their support with no strings attached? That’s just amazing. And if even my query and pages haven’t been represented yet, it’s nice to see what these editors are looking for in a good query.

My primary objective right now is just feeling better. I know it’s cliche to say that I feel like death, but it’s really true. Hopefully I’ll be better by Wednesday and will be able to write something sorta worth a damn.
